This was my second attempt at creating digipaks and this time i loved my work, I added double exposure in my Front cover image using another app called because i felt it complimented my title of obsession then i added black and white filter fora bit of dramatics and for something extra creative me and maria thought of adding hand made border instead of searching online, so i painted a strip of paper using yellow red and blue took a picture of it, cropped it and exported on Photoshop. Coming towards Inlay and back i made the Cd with vector tool added barcode searched for the perfect font zip file added details etc.

First Attempt on Digipaks
These are the end product images i created for digipak, honestly i loved the front cover only as it gave a bit pop cultural vibe from the truck art as well as the fonts used for Title and Artist name. But i found the Back and inner a bit unprofessional moreover the biggest mishap was the size of the digipak i mixed up the width and height. I also found out that we weren’t supposed to add the logos of social media pages which was suggested by leena, Eventually after our zoom class with sir we had a discussion where we felt i should redo all of it and add extra creativity to the end products.

Artist logo and Album Title Fonts
Coming up with the right collection of fonts is so tricky and tiring, luckily i had already saved alot of font files from a website called 1001fonts during my time making the magazine so i sat down typed the name of my artist and the title of our album on a word file to choose which font we wanted to use.

Having a decorative font for urdu language was the hardest part as i couldn’t find any tool that changed how i wrote so i at first i just accepted the way it was.

For the artist logo Me and Maria wanted an interesting initial as our logo, on our website and on the merchandise of our artist so first i opened photoshop for a new canvas
as we wanted the initials of our artist (ZA) for Zaaviyar Aazam to be in our logo i just typed the Letter Z used the font “Agency FB” and increased the size so i can see what i was doing clearly.
with that I added the letter A positioned it all around the letter Z until i found this very position interesting where the end of Z matched the inner line of A.
But it seemed common and dull so i decided to extend the line interlocking both the alphabets by adding the rectangle vector tool filling it with black paint, it gave a really cool design for our logo.
I checked how it would look without a background as a png file
and then i saved in both png and jpg file as well as for web. So this is the end outcome for our logo.
Selecting Images
Selecting images is the toughest task to complete as being the photographer of self taken pictures, i seem to like whatever i capture, but for this task we had to choose a picture that would go best for our cover of the digi pak.
I did have good experience before in my magazine task, where i took amazing photographs, but this time due to corona lock down we couldn’t really have another shoot somewhere so we had to choose from the pictures that we luckily took the similar day on the shoot.
I think these pictures below were chosen by my group members including me. We had saved them in a specific folder.

The picture below was chosen by me because i liked the aesthetics of the picture, The light on his face gave a dramatic exposure compared to the dark background, i just didnt like the pipe beside the actors face, i thought i could photoshop it out later.

For the picture below i have the same remarks, it although gave an artistic singer imagery, i actually didnt prefer using this picture but maria insisted.

lastly this picture was also what i liked, i thought if i could edit it add filters this picture could really pop so i chose this one too

Rejected
These images were rejected because artists face seemed flat the background wasnt really symmetrical or aesthetic and also the pose felt a little bland.
The picture below had somewhat filler lights and all but we felt it looked awkward as his eyes felt weird.
Lastly this picture had a good side profile but still the lights and shadows on the face made the image look bad.
Mock Up Sketches
So i was given the task to create sketches for a mockup album cover, the way it would look from the front inlay and back.
We all agreed to have the artists face on it since it shows emotion which really compliments our theme of the title. Maria suggested we should add a frame on all sides which would attract the eye and lastly keep the colour palette subtle toned according to our genre.
So i created this sketch keeping all the pointers in mind, the back would have an image of the dias as its a
Similar Album covers
Finding Albums similar to our genre was tough as not many Leading Pakistani singers focus on Folk Pop. I used the Website Patari which is a Pakistani music streaming service and found various Album Covers. I noticed the different variety of colors, codes and conventions. A few which really inspired me had Modern Editing and attractive visual effects. I even Looked up for albums which had a bit of double exposure because i felt that it would compliment our theme. Here are the album art i came across:
